What is TPRS?

TPRS is not the same as TPR.
TPRS is "Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling".

It is more storyasking than storrytelling

Question:
Is the teacher asking the children  if they can tell him a storry, or is he/she the children asking about the characters of the storry, the place and the topic?

  1. I think the teacher is asking the children about the characters in the story, the place and the topic. i like the method of TPR more than TPRS though, because i dont think TPRS would be as effective

  2. I agree! The way how to make a storry is nice but not good for teaching young children a foreign language I think.

  3. I beg to differ! I think TPR could be a great starting point however gets very boring as its so repetitive. so this method needs to be altered to make it more exciting once a child knows and understands what its doing.

TPRS would be better for older children learning sentence structure or something but maybe i got this view from the workshop.. can anyone tell me something else?

  4. I agree with Rachael. TPR is a good method for little children that just start to learn another language. But for older children it might be a bit too much, too childish.

To answer your question Eli, I think TPRS is more a mix of making and asking questions about the story.

  5. I think TPR is an awesome way to learn children a language, especially small children.. But the grammar will be a problem because you only use the imperative.

TPRS could help to learn grammar!
